FULL VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

In this video, I’m going to show you how to turn engagement on social media into paying clients. If you’re like most business owners, then chances are, you’ve got thousands of dollars of potential sales and revenue just sitting online on social media in the form of followers or engagement. And maybe you’re not sure how to convert that engagement into clients. In this video, I’m going to show you exactly how to do that so that you can gain more clients simpler and ultimately grow your business faster.

Hi, my name’s Connor Marriott from Instinct Education. We help business owners grow. And one of the biggest mistakes I see business owners make is that they use social media to generate followers or likes or comments or engagement, but they don’t capitalize on that because they’re unable to convert that attention into paying clients. There’s a very simple way to do this, and I’m going to break it down in this video.

So what is important to understand is that when you look at advertising your business on social media, it’s not just one thing. Most people look at social media and they think, “If I do a post, if I get some followers, if I get some likes, somehow that will turn into sales.” But that’s not really how it works. What we want to do instead is break that down into different steps. And once we do that, it becomes very simple to understand how to move prospects from step to step and ultimately get them to become a paying client.

So the five steps that I invite you to think about in your business are number one, attention, number two, interaction, number three, conversation, number four, phone call, and then number five, sale. If you look at advertising on social media through these five steps, it’s very easy to identify where your prospects are and how to sequentially move them from step to step and ultimately result in getting a sale.

So the first step is attention, and this could be in the form of followers or people visiting your page, people watching your videos. This is what a lot of business owners have. They have a lot of attention. What they struggle to do is convert that attention into step two which is interaction. So interaction could be an example like someone liking your photo, someone commenting on your photo, someone sharing your photo, or even someone messaging you.

So the first step is figuring out how do we take attention and convert it into interaction? The best way I suggest you do this is by offering a solution to a problem that your market have and putting that solution in a very visible and easy to see spot. An example might be, let’s say you are advertising on Instagram. You could change your Instagram bio to something like, if you’re looking to dream outcome of your prospect, let’s say you help people with weight loss, you could say, if you’re looking to lose weight, send me a message saying “weight loss” and I’ll send you a guide that breaks down the five best ways to lose weight. What that is doing, it’s inviting the attention to interact with you. We’re giving a solution to our prospect’s problem.

Another example would be doing a post on social media saying like, “Hey, I just created a free guide breaking down the best three tips to generate more leads for your business. If you want it, comment below.” And what that’s doing, again, it’s taking the attention that we have from our followers and we’re inviting them to interact with us by liking the posts or commenting or sending them a message.

The next step is taking that interaction and turning it into a conversation. So a lot of people think that if someone’s liking their posts, somehow they’re going to become a client. But what we need to do is move them from interaction to conversation. So if we go back to the first example of doing a post that said something like, “If you want to learn the best three ways to generate more leads, comment below.” That’s getting attention and turning into interaction in the form of someone commenting.

Now, what we want to do is start a conversation. And so what we can do is message that person who commented on our post and say something like, “Hey, I saw you commented on the post wanting the guide to generate leads. Is it okay if I ask you a couple of questions first because it might not be the best guide for you? I’ve got a lot of different resources. If I ask you a couple of questions, I can make sure I send you the thing that’s going to be most beneficial.” So by saying something like that, what we’re doing, again, we’re offering the conversation as the solution to the problem. We know this person’s interested in generating leads, but we’re offering to give them the best possible resource for them. And so by doing that, they’ll say, “Sure, ask me some questions.” And they’re inviting you to have a conversation.

So we’ve taken our attention. We’ve turned it into interaction. Now we’re having a conversation. And the way we’ve done this every single time is by offering a solution in the form of the next step. And this is basically the entire process. What is a solution that you can offer your prospects and how can you position the next step in this process as the solution? So once we’re having a conversation with someone, we can then ask them questions and we know the next step is a phone call.

The reason I suggest a phone call at the start at least is because it’s very simple and quick and you can be dynamic. You don’t need to have a perfect sales page if you sell someone over the phone. You can ask them questions and it’s dynamic. If you want help on the sales process, I’ll leave a link in the description to the video that I created about high ticket sales over the phone.

But how do we get someone from a conversation to a phone call? Well, it’s the same process. We offer the phone call as a solution to the problem. So we’re having a conversation with a prospect. We’re asking them some questions, and we could say something like, “I’m pretty sure I can help you, but I have a few more questions. To save time, let’s jump on a quick phone call so I can ask you these questions and then point you in the best direction.” Again, we’re offering the phone call as the solution to the problem of this conversation’s taking a long time. So we’re giving the prospects of solution, making it more likely that they move forward. Once we’re on a phone call, again, the same process applies. We offer the solution of working with us as a solution to their problem. And again, if you want help on how to conduct that sales call, I’ll leave a link in the description to the video I created.

But basically this entire process is taking attention, moving it to an interaction by offering a solution to a problem. Then once they’re interacting, we can then start the conversation, again, by offering a solution to a problem. Then from the conversation, we can take people to a phone call, offering a solution. And then on the phone call, we can offer the final solution, which would be to sign up with you as a paying client.

And so if you do that with all of the attention you’re getting on social media and you consistently do that every time you get a new follower, anytime you get any like or a subscriber, anytime someone comments on a photo or likes a photo or shares something you’ve posted, you’ll be able to generate a lot more revenue from the engagement or the attention that you’re already generating.

So by following these steps and understanding that social media isn’t just one outcome of do a post and get a client, it’s a sequential process. And if you understand that process and understand how to move prospects from one step to the next, you’ll be able to generate far more sales, far more revenue and make social media advertising more effective for you.
